artsConnect respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners and Custodians of our land. We are proud to support Indigenous Artists in Australia.
artsConnect was first established in 2002 by Teresa Charchalis. Based in Manly on Sydney's northern beaches, the business started out as an online web portal promoting Australian artists of all media, providing a means for artists to connect with creative opportunities, and for people to connect with artists via the website.
The artsConnect.com.au website now features over 600 artists, troupes and resources. In 2006, the National Library of Australia identified the artsConnect website as an important cultural resource for the arts in Australia, and now digitally archives the entire site every year, preserving the information for future generations to come.
In 2009 we launched our online Aboriginal Art Gallery, featuring affordable works by both emerging and established Indigenous artists from Central Australia. Indigenous artists represented on this website include Betty Mbitjana, Gracie Morton Pwerle, Damien and Yilpi Marks, Tommy Crow, Lily Kelly Napangardi, Gary Wilson Reid, Bessie Pitjara, Rosemary & Jeannie Pitjara, Susan Gibson Nalapatajarri, Lynette Corby Nungarayi and Raylene Pula Price, to name a few.
