About This Painting
Bambatu is a well known artist from the Kiwirrkura region in Western Australia. Her paintings represent the ceremonial journey's of her ancestral women. The concentric circles represent waterholes visited on their journey, and the parallel dotted lines represent the paths travelled. In Aboriginal paintings, dots commonly represent Aboriginal ancestors, however their meanings may represent many things, and is usually hidden. This painting is a wonderful example of Bambatu's work. It is painted on canvas, and signed verso.
