About The Artist : Theo Batten

Theo Batten was born in 1918 and died in 2003 at the age of 84. He was a respected artist and journalist who won the prestigious Walkley Award in 1972. He traveled widely and trained at the National Art School. Theo Batten was also a member of the Manly Art Gallery & Museum Society and a former member of the Peninsula Art Society. He was a lively character and raconteur with a sincere desire to provide an opportunity for young creative people to continue their studies in the visual arts.
