About The Artist : Verena
Bacchini
Local artist Verena Bacchini, of Balgowlah, emigrated
to Australia from Switzerland 16 years ago and has made her
home in the area since.
Verena discovered a love of painting and sculpture
during a course at Seaforth and Brookvale TAFE, graduating with
her Diploma in Fine Arts in 2000.
During the past few years she has devoted much
of her time to painting, and entered a number of varied competitions
in 2006—some with rewarding outcomes. One of her oil paintings,
“Circus”, was short-listed for the finals of the
2006 annual Willoughby Art Prize. Another abstract work “Vandalised”
was among those chosen to hang in the Inaugural Blake Exceptions
Exhibition at Rushcutters Bay Gallery last November. Her painting
depicted the desecration of a grave-site headstone at Manly
Cemetery.
Apart from entering competitions Verena gave her
first solo exhibition at Angel Restaurant, Queenscliff last
November.
Verena has also participated in numerous group
exhibitions:
Manly Art Gallery & Museum (Fine Art Graduating Exhibition,
1999); Manly Community Centre (Fine Art Graduating Exhibition,
2000); Arts North, Hornsby TAFE (2000); Royal Easter Show, Sculptor
Society (2000); Darling Park, Sculptor Society (2000); Sailing
Heritage Art Prize (2001); Palm Beach Art Café (2001);
Art Show, Hornsby Art Society (2005)
“My art is a reflection of my passion
for personal growth and self development and a direct result
of where that personal process has taken me—a willingness
to see and be seen as who I am at heart—a passionate,
vibrant and colourful human being who seeks to encourage and
inspire others to do the same – to live the life of their
dreams”, she says.
Verena’s work has been appreciated
by many art lovers resulting in various holdings of her sculptures
and paintings in private collections.
