Paul Winchester is one of Australia’s rising talents. Paul has carved out an acting career from appearing in a number of Indie flicks and TV roles, & award winning short films.
Paul made his national television debut in the Australian drama series, "Bondi Banquet" for the S.B.S playing an Irish surfie. He showed potential and willingness to play against type in the land-mark independent film, "Gabriel" where he played a mute demon rapist. That same year he played a love-sick stalker in the award winning short film, "By the Book" (Showfest Audience award 2007). Once again Paul showed his dark side in the soon to be released feature film, "Submerged" playing a paranoid schizophrenic and in 2008 appeared in the popular television show, "All Saints" & "Packed to The Rafters". In 2009 Paul has been busy appearing in "Underbelly 2 ", and playing the lead in the action feature film, "Sweet Marshall" . Later on this year Paul will appear in "Home & Away" playing a widower.
Paul trained at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts, and has produced & appeared in a number of award winning short films with Point Break Drama & Roguy Films.
Paul Winchester was born in Northern Ireland to English parents and at just one year of age, was relocated to England where he began his schooling. Having just turned nine, Paul arrived in Perth, Australia where he did his high school and Drama School study. Finally he moved to Sydney when he was 22 where he now resides.
Paul first attended acting classes when he was twelve, where he played the Sheriff of Nottingham in the classic play, Robin Hood. In High School he became involved in the high-school circus where he learnt to juggle fire, unicycle and clown. One of Paul's first professional jobs was performing in a nightclub playing a clown at just 15 years old.
Paul became a regular member of the local Amateur theatre where be performed in plays and Musicals like "Mister Scrooge", "Annie", "Romeo and Juliet" and the "Browning Version". At the same time he starred in all high-school plays where he received the Most Promising Performer of the Year Award on two occasions. Paul made his Australian television debut at 17 in the teen drama, " A good Time Tonight". That same year Paul gained entry into the prestigious Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts where he would study for the following three years.
Upon moving to Sydney Paul worked in theatre, short film and television. Paul became the co-director of the Point Break Drama Acting School in 2002. The director of "Gabriel", Shane abbess first cast Paul in a short film called "Sunday Drivers" shot for the 15 by 15 short film festival.
