Karen
Schreiner
Digital
Artist (Sydney,
NSW)
Hi. I’m Karen Schreiner. Well,
in truth that’s not totally true, but that’s
the name I’m using to publish my art.
It’s the name I use
in the cyber world of Second Life where I own an art
gallery and where I exhibit my works. And it’s
the name I’d like to use in “real life”
(RL) in recognition of the motivation and inspiration
I’ve got from Karen.
My completed works are
totally digital although many start off from photos
I’ve taken and/or sketches I’ve made.
Sometimes I start off with a particular end in mind.
Other times I just let the work take me where it wants
to go. Always the results are surprising. I work with
tools like Paint Shop Pro, ArtRage, PhotoImpact and
anything else I can lay my hands on, even use Powerpoint
and MS Paint!
I try not to be confined
to any particular style or school, but admit to being
influenced by impressionism, expressionism and Bauhaus.
Ultimately, though, I go where the image leads me.
While not formally trained
in visual art, I have degrees in computer science
and performance arts. Most of my work is exhibited
in my own gallery (The Asgard) in Second Life, as
well as The Art Loft and some clubs. I’m currently
exploring having my pieces printed to canvas so I
can exhibit them in galleries in this world as well.
