Frank Charruyer "BadSnail"
DJ / Electronic Composer (Sydney, NSW)

Frank Charruyer was born in 1974 in Paris France, and grew up in the country side of Bordeaux. He has a background in computer science and MIDI technology, and composes original ambient dance / trance electro music from his home-based recording studio in France.

He attributes his first introduction to electronic music to his father. Frank was 8 years old when his dad came home after attending a meditation workshop. Jean Michel Jarre's music had been playing in the background and his father enjoyed the music so much he went out and bought the album and the family's first record player. Frank listened to Jarre's “Concert en Chine” constantly, becoming entranced with the electronic orchestral sounds that eventually became his life long passion.

He is mostly self taught, training himself by ear from a young age. His parents, seeing his passion and budding talent in music, invested in music tuition where he learnt everything from theory to practical music. He also discovered how to create melodys, which opened a whole new world of creativity and musical development.

Over the years Frank continued to explore his passion for electronic music, teaching himself MIDI technology and how to create sound samples on the computer. A chance meeting with two video game programmers Lionel and Fabrice Caillaud found Frank collaborating on electronic tracks for video games, resulting in 120 music tracks specifically composed for the games the Caillaud's created.

Currently based in France, Frank is interested in collaborating with Australian-based musicians, djs and filmmakers. If you have a project requiring original soundtracks, or are looking for exciting new original tracks for live DJ sessions, please contact Frank below.
