Annie
Edney
Fire Artist / Fire Drawings (Albury,
NSW)
Annie
works in a number of artforms, noticeably shadow puppetry and lantern
making, as well as being highly skilled at project development, workshop
facilitation and artistic direction.
As
an artist Annie's favourite artform is fire art, and she makes giant
fire drawings ranging up to 15 metres long and 3 metres high, depending
upon the requirements.
Following
an eclectic career that has encompassed fashion, rock 'n' roll, opera,
radio broadcasting and parenting, Annie has concentrated for the last
ten years on community celebration with a focus on the environment.
Rolling
together all the aforementioned skills, Annie puts together large-scale
outdoor community spectaculars. She has worked on several community
events, including the Fire Event at the Woodford Folk Festival and Murray
Arts Organisation on the Enchanted River, an outdoor festival with an
environmental theme. Her experience both as an administrator and as
an artist requires intensive multi-skilling, and she is now highly regarded
as a fire artist, lantern maker, shadow puppeteer, mask maker, giant
sculpture image maker, costumer designer, painter and writer.
Annie
and her daughter Freyja moved to Albury in 2001 to become part of the
amazing Flying
Fruit Fly Circus community.
