Crystal Stubbs

Crystal Stubbs is an Australian born glass artist, based in Melbourne. She produces hot solid formed glass sculptures that are figuratively based.

Crystal has been a scholarship recipient at Pilchuck Glass School in Seattle, where she studied under Dino Rosin.

Crystal exhibits her hot glass sculpture regularly and received a Monash University fellowship in the glass studies area in 2003.

"Within my work I have focused on creating stylized figurative pieces that are aesthetically coherent. My sculptures are created by hot forming solid glass. These pieces describe the complex relationship between bone, muscle, and skin that is the human form. Through the use of glass, a translucent medium, I create a powerful image and dialogue of the transient nature of existence."
