Jonathan Alexis Nicolas Ruede
Graffiti Artist (Sydney, NSW)
Jonathan’s career began in the streets of Berlin and Frankfurt /Oder in Germany. He is on an artistic journey from exploring lettering graffiti to street art. Jonathan has always been inspired by Hip Hop culture and urban lifestyle. So he started with early 12 years using the aerosol can to express himself. In recent years he has adopted the technique of photorealism which is inspired by American photorealist painters from the 1970’s such as Robert Bechtle and Ralf Goings.
Jonathan has just relocated from Germany to Sydney. Despite his young age of 19 years he has a profound experience within the German graffiti scene which is reflected in his highly refined mature spray paint technique. Jonathan’s focus lies on the artistic involvement with the location of his work. His work reflects his immediate environment and media experience in romantic, and sometime very critical and pessimistic views.
‘The girl with apple’ is an exemplary for his exploration of the essence of the site. A small water pump station in front of a vast apple plantation along a country road provides the stage like setting in which the painting inspires the viewer’s imagination and creates the underlining tension in looking at the girl eating an apple from the plantation.
Jonathan is available for freelance and Illustration work.
