Lenny Pelling
Childrens Illustrator (Sydney, NSW)
Lenny has been painting, drawing and illustrating books for children and young adults for a many a year now. With more than 50 titles in print (and a few more in the bottom drawer), her work can be found on library and bookshop shelves in five countries.
She studied visual arts at the University of Western Sydney (Nepean) and has since studied children's book illustration with renowned Australian artists, Donna Rawlins and Wayne Harris.
An early reader herself, with a wicked sense of humour, Lenny was drawn to art and illustration by the wonderful work of Roland Harvey, Shaun Tan and the immortal Quentin Blake.
Lenny has illustrated and co-designed many titles in the X-Zone series (award shortlisted for the Australian Awards for Excellence in Educational Publishing). She provided original fine art illustrations for the iconic Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin's, Ultimate Factivity books.
Her work also features on the Learning and Teaching Scotland website, which provides valuable support materials for the Scottish school curriculum.
"Her work is leavened by a child-like sense of humour and fun, which makes the characters she's developed immediately appeal to young people."
Stuart Gibson, Book Design Australia.
