Marg Thomson

Marg is a multi-skilled artist with interests in illustration, fine art, music and writing. She draws mostly portraits and automotive art, but is multi-skilled and can illustrate just about any subject. She is currently working on a four picture series based on the seasons of Melbourne in pastel.

Marg returned to tertiary study in 1995 at Chisholm Institute on a part time basis to undertake an Associate Diploma in Fine Art, gaining distinctions and high distinctions. She has also studied Professional Writing and Editing, however it is art and music that feeds her inspiration.

In 1996 she organised and presented her first successful exhibition with three other novice women artists. She has also exhibited and sold works at Mont De Lancey, Belgrave (Highly Commended), Kallista, Yarra Glen, Cockatoo Community Arts, Cooks Corner (solo), Warburton, Mt Evelyn Arts Space and others.

Marg currently works as an Artist-in-Residence for the Monbulk RSL. She completed a 17 portrait series commemorating past presidents, and is looking forward to a further series due to commence towards the end of the year.

Marg has been deeply involved in community arts, and has been a consultant for primary and secondary schools. She is interested in connecting with other illustrators, artists, writers and singers based near Lilyfield VIC.
