Kathryn Sieber
Jewellery Designer (Sydney, NSW)

Kathryn started making jewellery as a teenager after following a family interest in gemstones and prospecting as a child. This passion developed into a position as a gemcutter with Jules Joris, fashioning magnificent sapphires for the industry.

An invitation led to enrollment in the first Jewellery Design Certificate at Randwick Technical College. During this period she obtained her Diploma in Gemmology while working as a designer and valuer for Kenneth Mansergh, and later again with Jules Joris. Kathryn also created pieces for clients at Kenneth Mansergh as well as for the showroom.

Kathryn travelled for some time and spent some years training as a Geologist. Working as a mineralogist for a diamond explorer gave Kathryn exposure to parts of outback Australia only seen by a few. The love of gems and jewellery is always there in Kathryn's thoughts. Returning to jewellery as an individual designer was always on the cards for Kathryn.

Kathryn's style encompasses many techniques. The ability to fashion gems, enamel, cast and construct unique and individual pieces makes Kathryn's work exciting.

"I love the way I can combine materials and techniques, particularly in my current theme of cities jewellery. Colour and harmony are so important" says Kathryn. "I draw inspiration from my travels and try to distil the essence of a moment or vision in my pieces".
