Having first expressed her artistic talent in Bonsai (culture, design and display) in the late seventies then later obtaining a Certificate in Studio Ceramics from Newcastle TAFE in 1991, Gillian finally found fulfilment of her lifelong love of crystals, gemstones, ornamental stones, rocks and minerals when she joined the local lapidary group.

A new world of artistic expression opened and it wasn't long before Gillian was in the throes of making chains with intricate multiple interlinking and incorporating gemstone beads and chips into certain patterns and styles. As well, association with psychics and promoters of New Age self-awareness/healing methods made Gillian aware of the need to recognize ones Inner Spirit. Shen now incorporates into her jewellery items the gemstones which the ancients believed represent the special attributes people have or seek, or a gemstone colour that activates the Chakra centre whence special feelings/abilities originate, or self-awareness can be nudged and nurtured.

Simplicity, colour and style are the keys Gillian uses to enable you to acquire a wearable talisman or simply a pretty thing to wear, or to colour coordinate with your personal tones or apparel. As well, you can purchase intricate silver chains the style of which are unobtainable at usual retail outlets - such chains can only be produced by patiently inserting each handmade link into specific patterns, one by one, by hand. Gillian sells her beautiful wares at markets in the Port Stephens region and occassionaly in Sydney.
