Christine
Wheeler
Singer/Songwriter
(Sydney, NSW)
Christine
is a singer / songwriter who performs with trio Wheelers & Dealers.
Chris
has played in various folk music combinations in Melbourne during the
1980's including the bush band Jindivick, an Irish group with a strong
Planxty influence, High Plains, Celtic/country duo Heavenly Nightshades,
and Tom and Maria's Italian Family Band playing regional Italian songs
and tunes.
Since
moving to Sydney she has been a member of the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs
and the Renaissance Players, attended a Willy Clancy Summer School (Ireland),
and completed music studies in performance and ethnomusicology at the
University of Western Sydney and University of Sydney.
Chris's
extensive musical knowledge is a driving force behind the diversity
of repertoire being explored by The Wheelers & Dealers. Her unique
voice, equally at home singing folk styles and early music, is an inspiration
to Ged's creative rhythms and solos and Tony's expressive improvisations.
Chris
is interested in connecting with other acoustic musicians in complementary
styles, including traditional folk, world music, country (not western)
and other celtic singers or musicians.
