Molins
Harpist

Northern
beaches musician Cliona Molins was classically trained in Dublin at
the Royal Irish Academy of Music, where she studied both the Irish and
Concert Harp.
Outside
of Ireland Cliona has performed in Scotland, Luxembourg, Brussels, Dallas,
New York and Sydney. In New York she played the harp live on PBS radio
for part of a 16 hour reading of James Joyce's ULYSSES on Bloomsday.
Since settling in Australia, she has played the harp in the Aida orchestra
in 1989 and performed solo in the Opera House at a concert of the Brendan
Voyage. She has also performed live on the ABC's Livewire radio program.
Cliona
performs concert harp with Soléluna, a band made up of herself,
singer/songwriter Debbie Tennant, MacDonald Hamilton on guitar/flute/sax
and Pete Dawes on bass. Soléluna play a mixture of pop/contemporary/jazz
covers and a fine collection of originals.
Recently
Cliona has been studying South American rhythms with latin harp virtuoso
Victor Valdes. She also performs regularly with Fandango - a south american
duo with mexican jarana player/singer Lino Romeo and herself on the
paraguyan harp. She
also produces a 50 minute musical show called 'Groove Angel' targetted
at children (aged 2-7) in childcare centres, preschools and kindergartens
in the Sydney area. The show aims to enhance
listening skills and help build the child's self esteem.
