Laurie is not classically trained in music or percussion,
but prefers to play by feel. He draws on over 20 years experience jamming
and playing in bands.
His current projects include 'The
Feel Rhythm Band' a Northern Beaches based percussion group of six
or more (depending on the night!). This stylish and energetic outfit
interpret traditional West African rhythms. He also provides percussion
for 'Shells', a Sydney based singer/songwriter.
With a vast collection of over 50 separate percussion
instruments from all corners of the globe, Laurie can also be found
performing as 'The Drumming Man' at daycare centres and kindergartens,
enthralling the kids with stories and sound effects.
For the older kids and adults, Laurie runs 'Drum Circle'
- an interactive drum experience where rhythms and drum games are played
in a supportive and easy to follow format. For school groups on camp,
or corporate or sporting teams, Drum Circle is a fantastic way to bring
people together in a fun and interesting way. Available for groups of
up to 40 participants.
