Alle
Scott was born in Sydney in 1953 and selected for advanced education
opportunities at age 9. She studied art at St. George College of TAFE
in 1969 then moved to outback Queensland and learned 'grass roots' ceramics
through the dedication of the towns potters and the Flying Art School.
Alle
returned to Sydney in 1979 and began a long association with the St.
George Studio Potters Group. She completed the Ceramics Certificate
at East Sydney Tech (National Art School) in 1982 - upgraded to Assoc.
Diploma in 1990 - and studied 20th Century Art & Visual Culture
at Sydney Uni in 1991.
Works
include wheel thrown functional ware, one-off vessels and sculpture
covering many methods with a strong interest in traditional woodfire
aesthetics. On moving to Byron Bay in 1993 Alle joined the Byron Artisans
Collective, crossing over into 2D with mixed media works incorporating
handmade paper and ceramic pigments.
Throughout
the 80s and 90s Alle taught through TAFE and Adult Community Education.
She has exhibited consistently and received awards for ceramics, mixed
media and painting. Works are in private collections nationally and
in England, Germany, Africa. Pakistan and U.S.A.
In
2001 Alle cofounded PAN Professional Artists Network based in Byron
Bay. Currently, she is concentrating on abstract painting in oils while
exploring photography and digitally produced imagery.
