Anney
Bounpraseuth Visual Artist
(Ashcroft,
NSW) Anney is currently
studying a Diploma of Fine Arts at Campbelltown TAFE and working as a volunteer
at Casula Powerhouse, and for a Southwest Sydney Art magazine project called SWAY.
She has volunteered at Campbelltown Gallery, cataloguing artworks,
doing artist research assisting tours and general front desk work, and also has
work experience in costume design, face painting, running children's art workshops,
visual merchandising and assisting art festivals. "I've
always had an interest in working with the local community especially since art
in Southwest Sydney isn't as well established as other places and I passionately
believe it shouldn't be that way. Some view the Southwest and the people in it
as dull and uncultured. So in my works I try to exalt the everyday, the commonplace,
the rejected, the forgotten and point to it's delightfulness and sad beauty." Things
like secondhand objects, working minimum wage jobs, waiting at the bus stop, falling
over inspire Anney. To her, these are like universal metaphors in life and enable
people to relate to her works and not feel alienated. Anney
is interested in connecting with other visual artists and group exhibitors.
