Diana was born in Brisbane but has lived
in Sydney for most of her life. In the late 1950's she studied painting
and drawing at the A.D.R. with Professor Bissietta and whilst her
children were growing up attended a number of life drawing groups and
Master
Classes and exhibited in local exhibitions.
Between 1980 and 1984 she studied sculpture at the Sculpture
Centre. This work included figurative and abstract works, casting,
carving etc.
In 1984 Diana was accepted for a visual arts degree course
at the City Art Institute (now U.N.S.W.) and graduated in 1987 with
a B.A.
Visual Art, majoring in painting. In 1991 she studied lithography at
the Workshop Art Centre, Willoughby. There have been 10 solo exhibitions,
2X2 person exhibitions, 2X4 person exhibitions and a vast number of
group shows.
Her work is mainly figurative but there are a number
Sydney paintings and drawings and works based on the Minoan Legend
and Bali.
Diana's work has been shown at the Eaglehawke Galleries
in Glebe and Enmore, the Untitled Gallery, Lane Cove, Greenaway
Gallery Melbourne, Norton Gallery, McMahon's Point, Dale Thomas Gallery
Artarmon
and the Solander Galleries, Canberra among many others.
There have been a number of awards including the Fairfield Art Prize
and Works on Paper, Fisher's Ghost, Campbelltown and Diana's work is
represented in a number of corporate collections and private collections
in Australia and around the world.
"I am fascinated by the human figure and constantly
return to paint and draw from it.Each week I attend the sketch club
at the Workshop Art Centre which also creates some interaction with
others after solitary days with my dog in the studio in my back garden. "
