Erin Hill

Erin Hill has spent many years as a highly successful graphic designer in the Advertising Industry, although her interest in painting began as a child being taken to Art Exhibitions.

After several years as a freelance designer, a change in direction seemed in order. This was the beginning of a 4 year diploma at Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney (NSW). During this time the idea of bringing together the Advertising and Business experience with Painting, Drawing & Fine Arts began to emerge.

There also appeared to be a shortage of good quality design in the Australian Greeting card market. And so began a business idea.

First came the Koala Angels, a very successful Christmas series. Some of the clients who bought this range are still with us today. John Humphrey heard Erin on a radio interview with Alan Jones, and immediately bought the range for Humphrey's newsagency. Bookoccino, an excellent bookshop & cafe also took the range.

Then came city and beach designs which all do well in their own regions. From there grew a whole range of Sydney and regional and international designs, each a watercolour painted on location, and produced as cards and numbered prints now seen in so many Australian and overseas retail outlets, and in our own catalogue.

Erin Hill Gallery opened in Mosman Sydney in 1994 during which time many successful exhibitions were staged. The Gallery retailed its own original paintings, prints,cards and giftlines. In 2004 Erin kept the Erin Hill Gallery brand name to continue the wholesale business to be freer to paint.

Regular travel around Australia, New Zealand, France, Italy, Spain, Morocco, the Greek Isles and USA, have resulted in even more ranges becoming available, and will continue to be the source of new inspiration

Now there is Erin Hill Studio. The wholesale business continues and the Studio is where new original paintings are created. The influences range from Ken Done, Peter McIntyre, Vlaminck, to Cezanne and Monet. The walls display selected original paintings, and new work is hung when complete. Visitors and retailers are welcome to pop in and see what we have on offer.

Erin also belongs to the Sydney Sketch Club, meeting with the group on many weekends in locations around Sydney. Many of these are available as prints in the Studio.

So from what began as painting the neighbourhood, has now become 'Painting the World'.

Private Commissions:
1998 - Current. A yearly watercolour in South of France promoting the village of a private collector.
2002 - Kastellorizo, Dodocanes Islands, Greece. A series of watercolours for a private collection.
2005 and 2007 - Mayor of Trausse-Minervois, France. Paintings for New Year card to the Village.
2006 - Grasmere Station, South Canterbury, New Zealand, watercolour series for Private Collector.
Many other commissioned paintings for individual Private Collectors.

Artists Statement:
Painting to capture the essence of my subject is my aim. Landscapes, beaches, European towns and villages, Small slices of  life in sketches. This is what consumes me. I'm passionate about the feeling each has, and that the viewer connects to that.
