Fiona Barrett-Clark
Painter (Sydney NSW)
Born in 1978 in Parramatta, Fiona Barrett-Clark graduated from Meadowbank TAFE in 1998, with an Advanced Diploma in Fine Arts majoring in Painting.
Since then, Fiona has created contemporary landscape paintings, which capture the ever changing mood of the sky, sea and land. By creating these images, in particular her paintings of clouds, Fiona's aim is to awaken people to the magnificence that passes us by everyday and hopes to encourage people to take notice of the beauty around them.
Working directly from photos taken while on the road, Fiona not only aims to capture the atmosphere of the landscape but also to create a reflection of the emotions she was experiencing when she took the image. Her use of plywood instead of board or canvas gives a fantastic grainy texture to the works which imbues them with the feel of old slides and photographs adding further to the reminiscent nature of the works.
