(Collaroy,
NSW)
Born in London, England and now living on Sydney's northern beaches, Geraldine Simmons ("Geri") has a deep respect and passion for animals and the natural world.
She has been involved in a selection of group exhibitions since 1988, both in Sydney and the USA, and won second place and third place in the Call to Arts! International juried art contest in California as well as Best in Show for her Gum Tree Friends beach series Day at the Beach competition at Lady Audrey's gallery, Connecticut.
Geraldine’s work has been featured in various publications, including Creative Minds, Making Waves and Wildlife Artists Magazine. Four of her artworks were selected for the international collective exhibition, Persistence in Form 2006 at the Agora Gallery in New York City.
Geraldine is a signature member of Artists For Conservation —host to internationally prominent wildlife artists (formerly the Worldwide Nature Artists Group).
"Drawing evokes my deep respect and passion for the natural world. As I draw, the flanks of my lion become the portal for respect and honor; the possum’s eyes a call to preserve the delicate balance between human, animal and habitat; the Cockatoo’s wings mark the air with ease and enliven me with a sense of freedom."
