Jo Josephsen
Painter (Killara, NSW)
Josephine is a Sydney-based artist who works in pencil for B&W studies, oil on canvas or board for landscapes and architectural compositions and acrylics for on-site works.
Her background in Architecture and Interior Design (she holds a degree in Design and worked as an Architectural Illustrator for 15 years), along with her appreciation of architectural detail, knowledge of perspective and eye for colour and pattern, are obvious in her paintings.
Josephine has painted with a number of Art Groups including
The Royal Art Society, Ku-Ring-Gai Art Society, Ryde Art Society, The Society of Blue Mountains Artists, and has participated in numerous Workshops and Exhibitions.
She has received “Commended” and “Highly Commended” awards and has sold works through these exhibitions.
She has also sold privately and through Galleries in the Hunter Valley, Port Stephens and Hawkesbury areas (local views) and at Art Shows in Brisbane and Hunters Hill.
With her husband, she has travelled and painted on location both in Australia and overseas, exhibiting the resultant Bodies of Works:
First Exhibition – “Under Italian Skies” at the Curtis Gallery 2002
Second Exhibition – “Kakadu Reflections” 2003
While in Florence in 2005, Josephine took the opportunity to workshop with Italian Artist Roberto Ciabani.
Currently, Josephine is a member of The Workshop Arts Centre and a Sketch Club participant for 4 years.
