Rosie Dorsett
Painter (Manly, NSW)
Rosie is a figurative and abstract painter
based on the northern beaches in Sydney. Her work is influenced by
the impressionists, fauves and expressionists.
Rosie's subject matter comes mainly from her immediate
surroundings, still life, landscape, reflections, shadows etc. interesting
shapes
or line.
She is interested in form, colour and texture, and paints using a variety
of methods and techniques; she likes to push the image and composition
to see where it can go or either work quickly and vigorously; the subject
matter itself is not always as important as creating a sense
of balance.
"A lecturer from college once said that painting
is ..'constructing and building; creating something from nothing,
using raw materials'. I don't think I really understood that so much
then but feel that that's
what painting is for me now, The 'raw materials' that I mainly use
are oils and charcoal and my aim is to keep expanding my palette and
application methods."
Rosie is available for commissioned work. For information please contact
