Ruby Jackson
Painter (Sydney NSW)
Ruby Jackson was born in Hong Kong. She majored in fashion and art design at East Sydney Technical College and studied fine arts at the Julian Ashton Art School, Sydney. Whilst she graduated as a fashion designer, her ambition was always to become an artist. She began her art career as a freelancer and a majority of her works commissioned based, and displayed throughout commercial and residential sites both in Australia, and overseas.
Her unique style is a blend of formalised life drawing combined with the free expression of fashion design, reflecting her dual interests and artistic training.
In 2011, Ruby undertook the Studio 52 Project completing a painting a week over the course of one year. These works reflected the cityscapes and moods of the cities that Ruby has called home. A number of these paintings were exhibited in 2011, with the majority sold to private collectors.
She has worked with Christopher Styles Interior Design on a number of site-specific commissioned projects for residential projects in NSW; and has created site-specific works for Media Monitors and Café Trovata.
Ruby has mainly exhibited in group shows in Sydney; with work held in private collections in Australia, United Kingdom, Italy, New Zealand, Singapore and Mauritius.
