Retmock Printmaker / Textile
Artist (Lord Howe Island) Ginny
was born in New Zealand and settled on Lord Howe Island in 1976. Upon discovering
the pleasure of art 13 years ago, she has produced numerous works in a range of
medium and hasn't looked back. She trained initially with
a local artist on Lord Howe Island, exploring all mediums and eventually choosing
fabric painting as her preferred art. Her beautiful island home is a constant
and ever-changing source of inspiration, and the vibrant colours of the ocean
and fish, textures and shapes of the plant life never cease to amaze. After
attending Affordable Art in Sydney in 2003, Ginny became intrigued with printmaking.
She whet her appetite at the Warringah Printmakers Studio in Sydney and now can
not get enough, creating prints that incorporate natural fibres from her Island
home. "Most enjoyable is the collage stage, I find it
very satisfying recycling all sorts of bits and pieces as well as utilizing the
islands natural fibers. I presently exhibit and sell at the Lord Howe Island Museum,
Palmsugar Gallery and in Sydney at Watson Bay." Contact
