Angie
Russi Sculptor, Ceramisist,
Community Artist (Rushworth, VIC)
Angie
Russi is a ceramic artist with a Diploma in Fine Arts Ceramics from Royal Melb
Institute of Technology, and is currently studying a Diploma in Community Cultural
Development. She has worked as a studio based ceramic artist
for 20 years, firstly specialising in decorative functional ceramics and later
architectural and large scale sculptural ceramics. She also paints murals and
large works on canvas. Angie has been working as an artist
with communities to produce collaborative works, both pemanent public artworks
and ephemeral installations. Most recently, Angie has been working as an artist
facilitating community based arts projects. These have taken the form of community
celebrations that combine the collaborative making of large processional structures
with theatre, ritual, procession and performance. "Story
telling and finding and celebrating a sense of place and meaning is what I love
doing with communities." Angie has worked with all age
groups in many different settings, including schools, childcare centres, community
groups, wlfare agencies, local government, business sector, nursing homes and
special schools. "Art is life expressed and life is art
to me. I love to share this with other people either through collaborative creating
or selling my own artwork to others."
Angie is interested in connecting
with troupes working with rural communities and celebration.
