Dakanavar
is a storyteller with interests in painting, comix, video / documentary, sculpting,
puppetry and writing. He is influenced by decay, by the crumbling edifaces of
our psyche, by the ruins of our lives and by the frail scraps of hope that we
tie our futures to. "To this end, Iowe a great
debt to the light in my dark that is Nick Cave, and to the further legion of influential
artists (Clive Barker, Tim Burton, Paul Vonnegut, Rudyard Kipling, Francis Bacon,
Jhonen Vasquez, Spike Milligan, Julie Taymore, Jean-Dierre Jeunet, Brom, Jamie
Hewlett, et.al) whom have kept me with wonderful company for so long." Brief
outline of works includes :
1995 - Public screening of short animated
film Genus de Mutatio Rejectus at the Queensland State Library theatre (Australia).
2000 - Manufacture of puppet for Access Arts exhibit (Australia). 2000
- Permanent exhibit of puppet in Pakistan Puppet Museum. 2001 - artwork for
comics exhibition called Savage Pencils at Silicon Pulp Gallery in Sydney (Australia).
2001 and 2002 - Exhibition and sale of 23 masks at Enigma Mask Gallery at
Woodford Folk Festival (Queensland, Australia). 2002 comic artwork
exhibited in the Melbourne Museum independent Australian comics artists (Victoria,
Australia). 2003 - Photograph of puppet for exhibition of puppetry
in China (organised by UNIMA China). Dakanavar also received
and award in 2003 from Rockhampton City Council and The Rockhampton Municipal
Libraries for Best Adult Entry in Children's Book Week for illustrated children's
fiction (pen-name of "Aamir Mortal"). Contact
