Dona Zappone
Poet / Writer / Scriptwriter / Filmmaker (Sydney, NSW)

Dona is a performance poet, proof reader and freelance writer. Her background involved mainly working for a publishing company in Malaysia before branching out into her own proof-reading and writing business. She migrated to Australia in the 80's and discovered a new talent in scriptwriting, attending several creative writing class in Sydney and Melbourne. She also designs newsletters, brochures and greeting cards.

Dona's work has been published in Malaysia, USA, UK, and Australia in various anthologies, with several of them receiving certificates of commendation in the US. She has also written a number of short plays, and in 2004 her 10 minuted play 'Short & Sweet' was accepted for production by NAFA. She has completed a 12 week screenwriting course and has written two other scripts, 'Out of Sight, Out of Mind' and 'Crazy Sunday'.

"My late father once advised me that 'One is never too old to learn or reach for the stars, always believe in yourself.' Thats my motto. Would love to explore my aspiration of writing for the stage and screen and to complete a fellowship overseas."

Dona is an active member of NAFA and interested in connecting with other filmmakers, theatre artists and poets.
