The 2006 series of Acoustic Music
Showcases at the Star of the Sea kicks off with
a brilliant line
up of talent. Headlining the show
will be Melanie Horsnell, who is fresh from supporting Bernard Fanning
on his recent solo tour.
Melanie has just released her debut album “The
Adventures of...” on Rounder Records,
Europe and through her own label Inflatable
Girlfriend Records in Australia. The beatlesque
pop gem “I Just Want Some Love”
from this album saw Melanie featured as a Triple
J next crop artist in 2005, and gain her considerable
success overseas.
Supporting Melanie is Scotland Island bluesman Trapazoid
who captivates crowds with a spell of rich acoustic
blues and jazz described as “electro swamp
fusion with a dark funky edge.” Trapazoid’s
performance is powerful, fun and dynamic. You
will want to get out of your comfortable seats
and dance!
Earth roots and groove based
gypsy/blues/rock artist Rebecca Moore will be
performing with a new line-up featuring Bob
Nelson on lead guitar, Roger Clarke on didgeridoo
and Glenn Phipps on bass. Rebecca is a gifted
vocalist and visionary lyricist. Her music is
driven by strong metaphors and vast creative
energy.
Emerging artist Leon Granneman will open the show, with an
impressive introduction into his new material. Leon’s work is blues based, insightful and inspiring.
A beautiful evening of contemporary blues, folk pop and acoustic roots grooves. Saturday 17th June at the
Star of the Sea Theatre,
Manly at 7pm.
Tickets are $15/$12/$8
All ages/Smokefree Event.
