An exhibition of printmaking by Indigenous and
Non Indigenous women will be presented by Warringah Council at
Sea La Vie Café in Dee Why from 9 June to 28 June 2006. Titled “Art Connections” the exhibition is
the result of an exciting collaboration between the Warringah
Printmakers Studio and ‘Connections’ Aboriginal Women’s
Art Therapy group based at Chippendale.
Over a period of 6 weeks, both groups
of artists have been learning and teaching the art of printmaking,
sharing their
stories and creating art together.
The Exhibition of works features both
works from the Indigenous artists and the Warringah Printmakers
studio.
The Connections women's art is heavily
influenced by their cultural attachment with the Australian
landscape. The
Warringah Printmakers women responded to this connection with
the landscape by producing works that incorporated the strength
of women in their environment. The two groups works complement
each other to form a tribute to our connecting cultures in this
land.'
The Exhibition will be open as part of the 2006 Guringai
Festival between June 8 – 28 at Sea La Vie Café in
Dee Why.
