Celebrating 100 years of the Society of Arts and
Crafts of NSW, focusing on members' contributions
to three major aesthetic movements dedicated to the creation
of a uniquely Australian style:
'Australian Subjects 1906' explores the use of
the applied Australian flora and fauna and indigenous
materials;
'Australian Style 1941' explores the application
of Australian Aboriganal subjects, colours
materials and motifs to White decorative arts and crafts; and
'Australian Character 2006' presents
members' work exemplifying more indirect, abstract and diverse
approaches to 'Australianness' today.
