A
Floating Lucid Launch
Artists
are invited to participate in a one month journey to Nauru Detention
Centre to pleed for it's closure. Flotillas of Hope is a project
initated by Stavros, a
dedicated person who believes in different values contrary to
ones most of us are facing daily.
Filmmaker & Digital Media Artist Angela van Boxtel shares
his belief in the 'hope' for and creation of a different world.
Almost 300 people, including 90 children are held on Nauru as
part of the Government 's Pacific Solution. Some of them have
been there for over 2 years.
Van
Boxtel made a successful short film The Cage House (2002) about
a young Iraqi boy in an Australian Refugee Detention Center, and
how he escaped into his imagination to deal with the hard reality
of being locked up. Two
years later not much has changed and children are still held captive
as if they were prisoners.
Van
Boxtel again will try to make an attempt to speak out in a different
way. With a floating artistic boat with artists from many different
disciplines she will join Stavros and Flotillas of Hope on the
sailing journey to Nauru, trying to create some beauty out of
chaos.
