Wrenn
Sydney
Introducing
Wrenn, solo music project for Sydney singer and musician Katy McNamara.
Having written and recorded with several notable bands over the past
five years, Katy McNamara, the singer-songwriter, has truly arrived
with Wrenn.
Armed
with her acoustic guitar and voice, she's ready to take audiences on
a mesmerising journey. An ethereal performance from Wrenn will invariably
carry the listener away to a peaceful world of dusty mornings, rainy
afternoons and starry nights.
A
respected singer within the music industry, Katy sang backing vocals
on Jimmy Little's 2001 single (Bury Me Deep In Love) which appeared
on his album, Resonate. She also sang on another version of the song
with Kylie Minogue for the Corroboration album of black and white Australian
music. Most recently, she contributed backing vocals on the Whitlams
last album, Torch The Moon released in August 2002.
Inspired
creativity and artistic expression happens naturally with Katy. The
name Wrenn comes from Katy's ancestor, Sir Christopher Wren, celebrated
for designing St Pauls Cathedral in the United Kingdom. Katy started
singing at the age of three, developing an ongoing interest in music
and visual arts over time. Her talents progressed further as she completed
an Associate Diploma in Expressive and Performing Arts from the University
of New South Wales.
After
graduating, Katy joined a local outfit called Orpheus. Then for several
years fronted critically acclaimed Sydney group, Iliad, helping develop
the band's reputation for producing commanding and atmospheric music.
In addition to Wrenn, Katy is currently writing, singing and performing
with popular Sydney based funk and dance group, Erratic. Katy also sings
at wedding ceremonies, with a repertoire of original and well known
songs, adaptable to suit the needs of the bride and groom.
