Jeni Robertson
Painter, Mixed Media (Collaroy, NSW)

Although Jeni started painting in 1971, she had no formal training until the Julian Ashton Art School in the Sydney CBD 1987-88. She attended Life Drawing in 2007 and the Mitchell School of Art at Charles Stuart University tutored by Larissa Blake in 2007. Jeni also completed several terms at Art Focus Gallery Brookvale and mixed media classes with Meredith Rasedale in 2008. She is currently attending life drawing classes tutored by Pina Bartelo at Narrabeen NSW.

Jeni thinks the words of the contemporary artist Peter Doig best describes her art form:

“Painting is not fixed like a photograph. Painting is about working your way across the surface, getting lost in it, losing yourself, going beyond yourself and getting absorbed into it so that you get physically lost.”

Jeni’s work has been presented in galleries in the Sydney CBD, Northern suburbs and Northern beaches as well as many in regional centres in Victoria and NSW. Jeni has taken many commissions with her work finding a place in private collections in Australia and overseas.
