Jennifer Halliday

Jennifer's early childhood years were spent in Papua New Guinea in the mid fifties. Through her child's eyes and imagination she bathed in a land of sublime beauty and wonder. Jennifer lived her remaining childhood years at Warriewood Beach north of Sydney, embracing nature with a passion. Every day there was something wonderful to see: flannel flowers, bandicoots, frilled-neck lizards, dolphins, and the majesty of migrating whales. These childhood experiences are at the heart of Jennifer's paintings.

Jennifer is a self-taught artist. She always had two great aspirations: to work as a wildlife conservationist or an artist. Life's vicissitudes prevented her from realizing both of these dreams until she was 37. In 1988 after discovering naive art was an authentic genre, Jennifer felt liberated from conventional constraints and began painting with serious intent. After a few years she successfully launched her career as an artist until she developed a chronic illness which curtailed her dream for fifteen years. She now paints with children in mind. All adults with 'the heart of a child' are welcome too!

Jennifer paints her originals on canvas in acrylics. As yet her originals are not for sale but, she has Giclee prints on cotton rag and canvas available.  
 
"When I am painting, I bathe in the spirit of my childhood days. I am filled once again with pristine perceptions of childhood, and my heart opens to the inherent well of love and wonder Mother Nature inspires in me. Through my paintings, I hope to help keep alive the bright lights of enchantment burning in the hearts of children. I paint an imaginal world of Mother Earth which exists between the visible and the invisible. This is the child's domain - a world of sensing something 'other'."
