John
Scott
Visual Artist
(Manly,
NSW)
John
has been a professional Artist for 18 yrs and his dedication has provided
a recent body of work which is distinctively his own.
Whilst
travelling overseas he underwent a series of mystical experiences, "My realities
were pulverized, I retreated for many years to contemplate and redefine my painting
technique my philosophy, my very being, and produce a body of works that are a
pale hue compared to the intensity of the visions attained."
John combines layers of imagery to
reflect multiple meaning, stories, research and beliefs. His work contains
a variety of subject matter and combines detail and complex technical
execution with an overall balance of simplicity. His vision seeks to
source the intrinsic meaning and inner relationship between ourselves
and the external world: "in this world of constant flux and change,
I see my role as an artist as one of exploring the intimate aspects
of relationships between humans and their environment, encompassing
a broad spectrum of subject matter, and then challenging prevailing
"belief" systems. In so doing I aim to grow awareness for
both the viewer and myself".
We need to rebalance our priorities
and reharmonize. The hidden worlds, as he
calls them, are where the great mystery resides. Building intimate relationships
with the land and ourselves via ritual and ceremony will reconnect us
to the sacred, our understanding of Archetypes and then the true nature
of our Myth will manifest, enabling a healing to take place within ourselves.
