Painter (Carlton, VIC)

Roshni has always been inclined to art and music since childhood. Art and music classes at school would leave her invigorated. At that age, it was an interest that would bring her joy. This beautiful relationship has continued and endured and now it is more than a mere interest and has fast become her passion. She loves to create and express what she is feeling, what she thinks others are feeling, what nature is trying to disclose and she finds that painting is a beautiful medium to do that.

Roshni has a fondness for spirited colours. They communicate the energy and disposition of a subject. She creates atmosphere and mood in her paintings through the use of brilliant, bright and life infusing colours. Her Indian heritage has given her paintings vibrance, energy and bold colours and Melbourne has given them a contemporary touch. She explores the human psyche through the use of textures in her paintings. She finds, the way a textured part of a painting leaps out and grabs the attention, very interesting. It has a thousand stories to tell and each one is special.

Roshni loves to relax. Be it painting, yoga or curling up with a good book. Nothing gives her more pleasure and contentment than finishing a piece of work and taking a few steps from it and looking at it. It is on par with spending time with her loved ones. Her paintings depict a part of her -her passions,joys,hopes,fears and her idiosyncrasies. She feels that each painting tells a story and most people can relate with it.

Roshni's creations have no rules. They are free and invoke curiosity and energise the viewer. All her paintings are original and an output of her imagination.

Roshni has travelled from India and lives in Melbourne now. She is much attached to the beautiful gardens here, the people, and the sense of freedom and individuality that she has gained from living here. Melbourne has brought spirituality into her life. It has become a life long study, a process of evolving and has taught her to look inwards and find beauty there. That is the place she starts from when she creates.
