Shannon Crees is a Sydney based artist.

Her works are primarily figurative, and evolve from a background in fashion illustration and graphics.
She cites influences from popular culture, street art, manga, romanticism and classic portraiture.

Both exotic and stylised, Shannon produces beautiful, multi-layered artworks.
Grounded in textural tapestry, figures grow in her works, remaining woven, immortalized in a dream like state.
The etherial subjects are compelling yet the viewer is drawn to look past them into the complexity of the background detail; the experimental media and extensive build up of layers.

"My artworks are a reaction to my immediate environment.
The exploration and indulgence in superficial idealism; modern and classic raises questions for me about the commercialization of the female form. They also demonstrate a fusion of emotional and environmental fragility inspired by the instability of our planet.

As a generation x-er the barrage of media/ advertising/ digital and electronic stimulation as well as the accelerating turbulence of our political and environmental structures play a big part in creative motivation and inspiration".

Shannon was the only Australian artist included in the high profile line up of ‘the best graffiti artists in the world’ at Banksy’s cans festival 2 in London.

She now dedicates most of her time to large scale murals and participating in 'live painting shows'. These works include; a large mural for the Myer store in Melbourne, Council commissioned murals, an instillation work for Sydneys' fashion week and fashion festival and a number of gallery orchestrated live painting events.

Shannon was the winner of Leichhardt councils’  'Wall to Wall' competition, with an 80 square meter mural.
She has featured on television shows such as ‘Getaway’, ‘The Apprentice’, as well as the art segment of the ABC News.

"An accomplished international artist", Shannon's work has been exhibited extensively both locally and internationally, from the street to high end galleries such as work being displayed at Sydney's' Museum of Contemporary Art.

Her Artworks have been purchased for private collections in New Zealand, Germany, England, America, Japan, Pakistan and Australia.
