The Hummingbird is a singer / songwriter specialising in childrens entertainment. She sings and performs with many instruments including acoustic guitar, banjo, piano, fiddle / violin, bongo's, castanets, harmonica, Irish whistle, 'tucker box with boot" and the Wobbleboard, to name a few! She also conducts face painting and puppet shows, and performs as several different 'characters' including a fairy, a clown and a magician.

Born in Sydney in 1971, The Hummingbird grew up on a farm where her father trained race horses. Both parents were born in Malta, but became Australian citizens on arrival. She is is a qualified educator, having worked for ten years as a fulltime English, History, Music and Religious Education teacher at All Saints Girls' College, Liverpool. She also works as a part-time teacher in State Primary and High Schools (Kindergarten to Year 12). This part-time musical career compliments her part-teaching income as she does not claim Centrelink during school holidays! And yet, she sponsors a child in Africa and contributes to Greenpeace. Known as Miss V., the students affectionately nickname her "Miss Peace

In 1997 The Hummingbird played the leading role of the Princess in Holroyd Musical and Dramatic Society's "The Sleeping Beauty" and in 2001 was offered the role of Sr. Sophia in Campbelltown's production of "The Sound Of Music".

The Hummingbird has also performed at the Tamworth Country Music Festival. In 2006 she met famous Country guitarist Kerry Hodge who dedicated his composition "Andromeda" to her. She in return composed an endearing song dedicated to Kerry to the tune of the Australian folk song "The Wild Colonial Boy".

The Hummingbird participates in various talent quests throughout Sydney, incorporating comedy. Audiences are treated to The Hummingbird's impersonations of Dolly Parton, Olivia Newton John, Kylie Minogue, Cher, Celine Dion and the list goes on.

On Australia Day 2009 The Hummingbird released Vol.2 of her self-composed album: "Great Big Dreams For Australia". Her song lyrics encourage listeners to take care of themselves, animals and the environment. The songs are mostly Country, which reflect her Christian values and offer hope to listeners. The album features The Hummingbird singing "Waltzing Matilda".

Vol. 1 of "Great Big Dreams For Australia" which is for toddlers and youngsters, was released in February 2009 to co-incide with the birthdays of three adorable children who The Hummingbird gave copies to as birthday gifts. This album contains up-beat songs and some soft ballads composed by The Hummingbird as well as some well known children's favourites such as "If You're Happy and You Know it", "Old Mac Donald Had A Farm" and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star".

Both albums feature The Hummingbird playing all the instruments for each song - instruments include Acoustic Guitar, Bass Guitar, Electric Guitar, Keyboard, Piano, Fiddle / Violin, Drums, Bongos, Banjo, Cabasa, Castanets, Cow Bell, Harmonica, Irish Whistle / Recorder, Saxophone, Tambourine, Tuckerbox with boot and Wobbleboard!

The Hummingbird performs at Charity Concerts, Nursing Homes for elderly folk, Weddings and at Westmead Children's Hospital for the Cancer patients of the STARLIGHT ward. She also entertains at School fetes singing Country, Rock and Pop songs. At Childcare Centres and children's birthday parties she sings "Happy Birthday" playing the Piano Accordian, and dances with the children to popular music.

Her birthday entertainment also includes face painting and a puppet show. Costumes worn by The Hummingbird include a fairy, a clown and a magician. Children gain confidence from the keyboard / piano, guitar and singing lessons conducted by The Hummingbird.

A Country singer with a difference, with talents as multi-faceted as a diamond, The Hummingbird certainly contributes much to society.
