Indigenous Film Services is a film, video and multimedia
resource centre offering production support to the mainstream and Indigenous
communities.
Indigenous Film Services scouts Indigenous actors,
artists and technicians to production companies, casting agents and
television networks regarding Indigenous specific considerations. This
may include duty of care, support structures for the talent and their
family/custodians, transport, sensitivities regarding how the actor
is being portrayed, cultural differences, etc.
IFS is an independent and innovative production
company based in Sydney and formed in 2003
by Shelley Reys, Sarah Spillane and Ben Gregg. Shelley Reys is the Director
of Arrilla - Indigenous Consultants and Services, an Indigenous owned
and managed private firm boasting 15 years of experience in the Indigenous
arena. They bridge the gap between Indigenous people and the private
sector, by providing services/tools that make working together more
effective. She enjoys a formidable reputation in Indigenous affairs
- as evidenced by her appointments: The Fred Hollows Foundation, The
National Australia Day Council, Reconciliation Australia, The Council
for Aboriginal Reconciliation, YWCA of Sydney and the Parole Board of
NSW.
