by northern beaches company Newdawn Productions, Open Mic Australia
has been operating in Sydney for the last 2 years, providing a place
for performers of all types and genres. In the last year alone they
hosted 1,348 performances with 11,680 attendees at the events.
As
the name suggests, Open Mic Australia it is open to all performers.
Their vision is to support all types of performance art, although 95%
of those that perform are musicians. OMA events are held in great venues
with top quality sound systems and instruments are supplied if the artists
need them.
Currently
Open Mic Australia is held Mondays at the Coogee Bay Hotel & Crows
Nest Hotel, and Wednesdays at the Mona Vale Hotel & The Point Hotel,
Pyrmont.Performers are invited to participate, contact Newdawn Productions
on the phone number above and
book a performance time.
The
performance times vary depending on venue and the amount of bookings
on any given night, generally 15-20 minutes. Performers can bring their
own instruments or otherwise they are welcome to use the instruments
supplied. OMA events are run by friendly, supportive people. They are
competent sound engineers as well as lovers of music and excellent MC's.
