The Sydney Body Art Ride is a not for profit, community Art project
designed to promote healthy, sustainable living and to raise funds
for Child Cancer Research. The event is designed to be inclusive and
fun for everyone, while celebrating our individual differences. The
parade gives ordinary members of the community a chance to create,
and be part of, an ephemeral artistic experience.
2005 was the inaugural event but as it was such
a success we are under great pressure to conduct the event annually.
Riders are painted in bands of colour to create an overall rainbow
effect, the visual effect is stunning when seen moving along the street.
Up close you see that each rider has added his or her own individual
designs. Behind the Rainbow come our costumed riders in a variety of
outfits. We provide a free base coat to anyone willing to ride in their
briefs.
Competitions are held for various artistic fields including best jewellery,
best tattoo, best costume, best photograph, best poem etc. Please visit
our website www.sydneybodyartride.org for further details and to register
on line.
Participation in the event is free but we do request
riders to gain sponsorship from friends and family, one hundred percent
of money raised
goes to Children’s Cancer Institute Australia.
