SETS
Commonly
known as SETS, the Sea Eagles Theatrical Society was formed in the late
sixties/early seventies and is a sub-club of the Manly Warringah Rugby
League Club.
The
group meets most Monday nights at 7.30pm at the Leagues Club and has
staged productions over the years including The Importance of Being
Ernest by Oscar Wilde, Blithe Spirit by Noel Coward, On Monday Next
and Oh! Clarence by Phillip King and several plays by local playwrights.
SETS
productions are staged in the Manly Warringah Rugby League Club's auditorium
once or twice a year. SETS is the only theatrical society within a leagues
club in NSW.
Director,
actress, producer and president Robyne Farnill has been involved with
the society since 1982 and presides over a committee of five.
Over
the years many actors and actresses have participated in SETS productions,
including Jerry Duggan, whom fans of Skippy will remember as Mr Trundle.
SETS
wishes to make contact with stage crew, actors and actresses, directors,
local playwrights and set designers. Robyne Farnill says anyone who
is interested in SETS is welcome to get involved
with the society.
